Large import demand is useful context, but it is not a market-entry decision. For an India-based exporter, a destination can look attractive at the category level while access requirements or distribution dynamics make the commercial path difficult.
Start with a clear product definition. Then compare demand trajectory, India’s existing position, market access and the buyer landscape across a small number of destinations. Write down both the case for and the case against each one.
Treat gaps as research tasks, not footnotes. If buyer channels, certifications or tariffs are uncertain, record the question and the source needed to resolve it before committing resources.
